This is how we rocked the New Year 2017 at Butterworth Hospital! Dad, proving yet again... attitude is everything! We had the biggest new year's bash in the hospital! ...
I brought one of dad's (many) LED light panels from his bedroom at home and his crown. I made him a hospital kilt to cover his little tushie, complete with special pockets for the surgical drains. It was all the rage at the hospital, because he of course totally rocked it!
As his nurse helped him walk his loop around the hospital floor, we heard cheers and laughing from each room he walked past. Even when he feels awful, he still has a stellar attitude and finds a way to brighten other's day!
The next day we met with infectious diseases, who informed us he would need 24/7 IV antibiotics for six weeks. The antibiotics were $3000/week. Thankfully our co-pay was only $500 a week, but it kicked him into what is called the Medicare "donut hole" meaning ... almost none of his prescriptions are covered, until he reaches "catastrophic" coverage. With all of his medications, his prescriptions can easily run anywhere from $1000-3000 a month. And all of this fell on top of the discovery... he has a home equity loan BUBBLE about to pop.
